Ralph R. Solano was a man of passion and integrity. A native of Raton, New Mexico, Ralph was very active in the art and business community. As a passionate actor, artist, and singer, he performed in many community theatrical productions throughout his life and enjoyed frequenting the railroad tracks in search of his next boxcar graffiti photo. Ralph was on the board of the Raton Arts & Humanities Council's Visual Arts committee for many years where he helped to organize many of the local and regional art shows. He often entered his Boxcar Graffiti images in the local International Bank Art Show where he won multiple awards, including several Best of Show and Best of Photography awards.
In addition to his artistic endeavors, Ralph was manager of the Solano family business, Solano's Boot & Western Wear, for over 20 years. As manager, Ralph expanded the business and created the unique environment that exists at Solano's today. The business continues to thrive and is carried on by his mother, father, sister, son, and two nieces.
Ralph R. Solano was a loving father, brother, son, friend, and mentor. He profoundly affected the lives of many people and will forever be remembered for his generosity, passion for life, and exceptional contributions to the community of Raton. This site is dedicated to his memory.
